James and the giant sketch book

I am not quite sure how much i like the first design approach and therefore came up with a different idea, which came to me when I was talking about the book to some of my friends. i asked who liked the book and the first thing she said in response was 'marvelous things will happen. i love that quote' i then decided to ask others about quotes they could remember from this book and several people mentioned this one. therefore i decided to focus on the quote for my book design.

my first mock up was horrible (below) so i decided to go back to working on paper, moving straight onto the computer definitely did NOT work.
